Default Serpentine belt

Just bought a used 2000 xj 4.0 and the next thing on my list of work is to change the serpentine belt that has cracks in it.. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this? Ive never done a belt replacement on any vehicle and didnt think the xj would be a big deal to replace but just wanted to know what to not do and any useful tips.. Thank you much.. Oh and has anyone ever used wrangler x tires? My buddy got me a price on them and said they are awesome tires

Just make sure you tighten the belt TIGHT. For whatever reason the XJ belts must be tightened for me what seems overtight but if not u will squeel like a pig until then.

I'm not familiar with the 2000. A mistake people make on the earlier, there is a "Hidden" bolt you need to loosen, or you will end up mucking up the tensioning bolt because it's not free. Pretty sure yours is different, but don't force anything! Have fun....

I have a 2001 ..might be the same as yours...

Tensioner is the pulley below power steering pump...loosen the pulley bolt then you can tighten or loosen belt with the adjusting bolt on the power steering bracket.....adjust to correct tension then tighten the bolt on tensioner pulley.
