0) Disconnect neg battery cable
1) Remove fan clutch (4 13mm bolts) and shroud if necessary - Do this BEFORE loosening the belt so you can get enough force on the fan clutch nuts to break them loose. Be careful not to damage your radiator fins - take your time and you'll be fine.
2) Remove the belt - mark the adjuster first if you are worried about re-tightening the belt to proper tension.
3) Remove the wires to the alternator - there's the main post and then two smaller nuts with a plastic squarish connector IIRC.
4) Loosen up the alternator mounting bolts and remove them as well as the L shaped bracket on the front of the engine. There are 15mm and 18mm bolts IIRC.
5) Remove the alternator from the bottom being careful not to mash into the radiator.
Some folks go at it from the top and remove the battery, tray and A/C compressor mounting brackets (not sure if they remove or just loosen). I've never tried it this way since I've always been able to do it the way I've mentioned in around an hour, hour and a half (working time).

I found it easiest to go from the bottom:
