I reckon its just compressing that shackle together,

if its set to spec, just check it a few times after driving a bit

 

Which ones? The front, upper shackle, or lower shackle?

 

When I installed my Rancho 1.5" leafs, they had listed much less aggressive torque specs than the factory 115 - 88 ft lbs for the leaf spring bolts and 55 ft lbs for the u-bolts. No idea why - maybe it's to allow for more suspension movement. I'm thinking I need to go double check that torque haha.

May try lowering the torque on your wrench and see where it actually does click.

Do you plan on doing anything to level out the front? Old Man Emu springs are about the same height and you wouldn't have to run coil spacers like most people do with the Moog upcountry coils.

Let me know if you ever want to sell that rig - it's the same year, color and trim as my first XJ!

 

Torque specs I used 2yrs ago were:
front leaf - 80ft lb
top shackle- 60ft lb
lower shackle- 45ft lb
u-bolts 65ft lb

I checked periodically for ~1yr with no problems. Also at these specs I don't have the noises associated with poly bushings.

 

The rear , upper bolt, that goes through the top of the shackle and into the frame/Jeep.

 

Yea I’ve already got the moog zj coils, and 3/4” spacer that I plan to use
thats what everyone seems to do for the upcountry .

.....and everything’s for sale for the right price haha. But I don’t have any near future plans on listing it for sale. I have a work vehicle, so this is just my weekend transportation.

 

The specs I found listed where:
front and top leaf/shackle bolts - 115
lower shackle bolt- 80
u bolt- 52
lower Shocks nut- 46

 

Could have stripped or broken that welded nut. Try to take a look.
