People I've talked to seem to think that the boots trap water and !@# and cause the shocks to rust prematurely. I'm got them on my rig since RC threw them in free so we'll see.

i would not recomend running them as said above they trap water dirt and other crap and cause rust on the shafts and can wear the seals out and cause the shocks to leak i have never run shock boots and never had a problem

I guess I'll be cutting by boots off today... I have to agree though, they dont help enough to make them worth it.

I have already knocked clods of Rausch Creek coffee out of them

I have run the rears with and the fronts with out, the rear shock bodys are showing more rust on them than the fronts are. This could be from the location too, the piston shafts look the same and both have no rust on the chrome. However the rear boot always seen to hold water in it...... this can't be good. My next set will be run with no boots.

Im running RS-5000 Ranchos

Boots are just for looks, and will prematurely wear the shock due to trapped debris, IMHO. NAY...

Because my rig spend most of it's time cruising mall parking lots looking for high school girls, & I don't like to get my Jeep dirty!!

Please stop from doing so or I will close this post.

I've been meaning to buy a set of 4 boots this weekend. I'm glad I stumbled across this topic.
