I am trying my hand at a 2001 XJ 165K and my springs look similar to yours BUT your springs look to have a negative arch and have rust and the remains between your leafs. My leafs still are tight so I am working on other things for now. If you are going to change them yourself, start PB blasting the bolts now and twice a day for several days. It sure can't hurt. Nice looking Jeep BTW.

If you need a voucher for Frank and Serious Offroad, I can tell you firsthand, your hard earned money is going in the right direction with him. I have had several transactions with him, and any issues I had (which were minimal) were dealt with quickly and effectively. As a matter of fact, just last week, I placed an order with him for 1K worth of suspension parts. I already have all of it. Great guy, great service, and great products. I also got his OTK steering setup, and got my gears and install kits from him. Do not hesitate to buy from him, he is one of us, and will be there for you when all the other guys will tell you to go pound sand.

Leafs on my 01 completely arched up over the axle. Was going on a camping trip with the family and there was no way we could have gone with the jeep packed. It would have bottomed out hard. Threw on these coil overs just to get me by a little longer before doing the springs. They brought the leafs from frowning to flat.

I do not suggest coilovers or any other kind of "helper" shock. The shock mounts are not meant to withstand those extra forces and will eventually fail. The best thing to do is to get new leaf packs. Extended shackles and add-a-leaf are two other things people try, but they will just accelerate the deterioration of your old leaves and increase the likelihood of the leaf failing completely.

This is true. Like I said it's only temporary and they aren't that bad. I could compress them without putting all of my weight on them so they aren't putting a lot of force on the mounts. I just laughed when my dad said " we used to just put shackles on". They just needed to get me through one weekend trip and the jeep doesn't get driven a whole lot normally. They won't be staying once I replace the springs. Of coarse the suspension held up great but ac clutch bearing went on me on the way there but that's a whole other issue.
