No it is just a process of small wrench turns if you dont have a deep enough socket or a ratcheting wrench

Not sure, probably helps. Might need to pull the coolant reservoir too. On the driver's side the nut isn't really accessible until you get the air box out.

I actually just did this a couple days ago.

all the top bolts broke. removed the shocks. used air hammer. welds broke off. fished new bolts through with wire. and done.

took about an hour.

Well, if bummerjeeper has done ALL this work on simple to work on BMWs, he oughta be able to tear himself away from the keyboard and monitor and go have a gander. Ya think?

And, Merry Christmas.

Right in the heart of the rust belt " Kansas". I took some pb blaster. Hit the bolts twice a day for a week. They all came out. Took maybe 30 min for the rear.

With real tools and without a write-up/photos/youtube video, or starting a thread? Cool.

I used PB Blaster for 2 days prior to, and the rear nuts came off. Got lucky I guess, as everything else I touch on the jeep breaks right off. Put on the silver anti-seize for the next person that has to do it.

I love this forum for all the info and help it's given me. I'm not the most mechanically inclined, but can do anything with just a little bit of help.
I'm handicapped, so getting under the jeep to work is a chore. Getting under is not too bad, getting back up is tough. That's why this forum is so good, I can get a good picture in my head of what I'm seeing and what I need to be careful about.

Merry Christmas All !

Lol, now that would be just to easy!! It sounds like the OP doesn't have as much mechanical ability as some of us do. We all had to learn sometime

Good for you...I'll admit it's nice to know ahead of time what pitfalls one might encounter before starting a job. It's because of this place I was totally prepared for the broken rear shock bolts and how to deal with them.

Still, at some point ya gotta pop the hood or crawl underneath and start turning stuff..

Merry Christmas to you too.
