Default shocks/struts wtf am i doing?!

first off i dont really even know what the difference is between the two of them. secondly i know all of them (whatever i have in my 96 xj) are shot. im not looking to do a suspension lift or anything. i just need to know what the hell i need to go out and buy to replace the old ones. if i get a little bit of ride height out of the deal i wont be upset lol. i dunno if it sounds dumb to anyone else but will putting a new shock/strut (whatever it is) setup on throw out my alignment or just cause some rediculous tire wear on the outter edge of the tire?

Shock -

Strut -

Go to your local parts store and simply tell them you need shocks, buy all 4. Some companies are better then others, but at the end of the day, any new brand is better then the blown ones your driving on now.

You do not need an alignment after shock installation on a solid axle truck such as a Jeep. Very worn shocks or blown shocks will increase tire wear yes.

for your car's old or broken models and make your journey sleek and extremely comfortable. the shock and strut helps reduce low-speed damping power while increasing damping power at medium-to-high aide connections for better overall contact, considerably enhancing managing and balance.well the shocks and struts replacement cost $50 below depend on the brand your looking for.

As a non expert I have been learning a lot from google searches. I just checked out Amazon today and entered all my vehicle information and searched shocks and filtered by my jeep Xj information. I navigated by price and reviews. You can probably get a set for anywhere from 60-120 after tax w/ free shipping depending on the brand you buy and if you look for those amazon open package deals. Some that were regularly 35 each or more are 10-20 bucks each. So just navigate some websites like orileys or autozone or amazon that let you enter your vehicle information. That will be a good start.

So for instance, for my 98 Jeep Cherokee Sport I searched a bunch. Some where as high as 140 each shock (and you need 4) some as low as 10. Since I do not offroad I just need plain jane shocks. I am all stock too, no lift. Some brands I saw come up that seemed like name brand were gabriel, monroe, kyb, acdelco, skyjacker, rancho.

Remember you need two front shocks, two rear shocks. The front ones will not fit the rear of your jeep, and likewise rear will not fit the front. Also, if some of those brands I listed were for lifted jeeps I'm sorry. I was just listing some brands from a quick search to give you an idea. Rock on man and hopefully you will do the job yourself rather than pay a mechanic if you can figure out how to do it from some posts and video research.

Edit: Hahaha just realized this post was from 2011... Well, hopefully anyone else searching google and finding this will find my post helpful. Hello to the future; from the past!
