The ones on my 97 were no longer black but that grey faded crappy color, along with the flares. repainted the flares and trashed the mouldings. Personally I think it looks better without them.

Did you have non faded pain under it? My jeep.is black and this is something I was worried about by removing them.

not too bad... I did it over a couple days.the worst part for me was waiting and following drying times for different paint products. I took pics of the whole process

actually originally i wanted to do diamond plate but i ended up with some free sheet metal from work and did it this way instead.

Man, you did an awesome job. I can only hope mine turns out that well once I do it sometime this week. Looks wayyyyyyy better than that ugly side molding

i took mine off, Really simple and I was amazed how nice the paint underneath looked. Makes the rest of the paint look crappy, but im glad i didn't run into and rot issues. I used a plastic paint scraper and 3m adhesive remover (worked way better then goo gone and wd40) to remove the extra adhesive.

I buffed the entire truck when I did all this and I see no difference in the paint where they were. I didn't buff because the area was faded I just buffed it because the truck had been sitting for 4 years and I wanted to clean her up real good.

I have a 97 grand jeep laredo and my panels are popping off, may we see yours?
