Default Silicone Dieletric Compound in ECU connector?

Hello everyone. Happy Saturday !! I hope yours is going better than mine...

Tore my XJ down to the firewall this summer, rerouted the interior harnesses, etc, etc. Putting it all back together and the Fuel Pump isn't running as it should. Some quick troubleshooting indicates that the ASD relay is not triggering.

So my question is, is it possible that the Silicone Dielectric Compound I applied to the ECU connector is causing the issue? It's the stuff we use at work for the same purpose, but we don't deal with 30yr old ECUs either... I did drop the ECU on concrete, so I'm not without other possible causes. Figured I'd ask for some opinions while clearing the noggin before heading back to out to tackle the beast...

I never had a problem with Dielectric grease I put it in almost all connectors even the computers . you may want to try a different computer since you did drop the ECU on concrete . and does your xj use the resister on the fire wall for the fuel pump ? and is it good ?

I use this as well on my '88 and other vehicles. In addition to tech's suggestions, make sure you didn't bend any pins (or have one push out on the connector) when you hooked everything back up.

It sure is nice hearing that 4.0 roar to life. The LH Body Harness didn't want to stay attached to the Dash Harness, but a zip tie fixed that. Of course, I didn't think to work backwards, instead troubleshooting the ECU, then the Fuse Panel, then the Firewall Bulkhead and then the LH Body Harness before finding that it wasn't plugged in fully, but all's well that ends well. Thanks for listening to me whine... (and the help )

On a side note, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up a spare ECU and sent if off to refurbed. NA on RockAuto...
