It's factory on some years. Not sure how far back. Always kinda figured it was Chrysler's fix for the heat soak that '00's and '01's are more prone to. I own an '00 but do not have that problem. Mine was on my Jeep when I got, many times they are missing, and I replaced it with a new one when I did the 4 hole injector upgrade. Owned a '96 also but if one was on there long gone by the time I got her. Anyway my Jeep Dealer had it in stock. Part# CBXCB060. Cost me $2.20 plus tax. You might pay a shade more. Work in an auto parts store and deal with the guys down there. Pretty sure they do the best they can on the price.

Just a suggestion to stay with one thread for your issues.
You will get better reccos.
If the 2 threads are related,I would suggest checking your exhaust.
If your muffler has a good dent in it you may have shifted the pipe so it hits your bell housing etc. while under load.
Also check your trans & engine mounts. They can cause bad vibes.
Check your o2 sensor wires for wear or chaffing, esp. Against the exhaust.
You will get better reccos.

Holes in the muffler and rattling? Kinda thinking no. I would check the hangers though. Trying to visualize under my '00. Isn't there a metal hanger welded to the intermediate pipe, one coming down in front near the tranny crossmember, that goes into an insulator. The rubber hanger. They rot, bust, could be bouncing around. Rear hanger. Tailpipe maybe?

You will know, when you look at the motor mounts take a flashlight with you so you can see both of them. There is one under the intake/exhaust manifolds and there is one under the camshaft position sensor area. The transmission mount is between the crossmember and transmission, this one will look saggy and drooping when its done. Does your driveline "clunk" when you put it in drive?
