Sitting with head off
So long story short my jeep has been sitting outside without a cylinder head and in pieces for a little over 2 months. I have the hood closed And Tin foil and a garbage bag over the block to keep out debris. Also from time to time I give it a thin coat of motor oil to keep it from rusting. My question is my jeeps motor going to be ok?

It may be a while longer before I can finish up on this head swap job so I will be picking up some bearing grease. Any brand that you would reccomend? Also I hear the rough side of a sponge will be a good choice to smooth out the surfaces of the block and head is this true?

I make gasoline/bearing grease solution and spray everything.

11$ gasket scraper is a good investment. The type that you can replace the razor blades in. I also use the abrasive pad in a cordless drill to get the remaining gasket material off.
Might not be a bad idea to turn your engine over with a 3/4" socket now and then to make sure everything is still cooperative before you get it all back together. Sometimes those rings can get ornery and lock up on you if they sit too long.

so a wire brush on a drill will clean off the block just fine and put a thin coat of bearing grease. also i was reading up on doing the gasket and a repair manuel said to use a very thin coat of gasket maker on both sides of the head gasket. i always thought i wasnt supposed to use anything but the gasket for head jobs. are jeeps different?
