Basically your oldermodels say 95 an older you have a great chance of not needing one even up to 4.5".. Anything 96 and newer you will most likely have to have either and SYE or tc-drop once you hit 2" or more. My 91 sits at 4.5" and needs an SYE or tc-drop. So it's never a guarantee and only way to know is install the lift and see. Sometimes you can get away with adding degree shims to the rear axle.
