Slow acceleration

Slow acceleration
Recently I have noticed that my XJ 2.5 manual having trouble in acceleration.I have to rev the engine to almost 4k to make it accelerate in traffic. What would be the problem?

How old is your clutch? Does it feel like it's slipping? On that same note, could you give some more detail on what feels like is preventing the acceleration?
