My Laredo had it, and I ran it for a long time. It was fairly quiet. I have removed it for a number of reasons, hood venting, clearance etc. The engine is a little more noisy, but the material under the carpet still keeps it fairly quiet.

The liner on the inside of the hood is also there to protect the paint and clear coat on the hood. If your hood gets too hot, like the guy in florida, your paint will crack and peel. Essentially your engine will bake your paint. In not so F**ing hot climates its no biggie. Just make sure your cooling system works like it should and you should be fine. The liner will do nothing for the running temperature of your engine. If anything it would make it run hotter because it would keep the heat in instead of letting it out.
