Some electrical questions... and...
Hello guys,
Just bought my self a 1998 Jeep Cheerokee Limited 4.0 with 103.000 miles
I need to find out what can I fix now.
The windows do not operate from the doors but only from the driver door panel. I think the windows lock switch needs to be cleaned etc.
The drivers window mechanism is somewhere detached as I can hear the noise of the motor but the window does not move.
Is there anything else I need to check?
ohh and I have a rough patch of idle ... for 20-30 sec when it warms up. Not when it is 100% cold ... and not when it is at the optimal warm temp.
It does it somewhere around 80C - 90C ?... goes between 500rpm and 800rpm up and down .... and then after 30secs it stabilizes it self to proper idle.
If while it does that I press the throttle then it responds without a problem ...

I have a '93 grand cherokee that my fiancee drives. The windows on that one act up sometimes not wanting to go up and down unless it's from the drivers switches , even with the window lock off. I have spare doors that I'm going to pull the switches out of and install in that one.
Not sure about the idle issue though. If it was a Mustang I could tell you all day what the issue is. ha ha ha

I will take apart the driver's switch panel tomorrow and clean it with PCB and IPA ... and see where it leaves me.
Oh yes the mirrors are not working either!

Ahh ok. so they do have an IAC just like my Mustangs. The IAC is really what controls the idle. If you have the money I'd replace it. Sometimes cleaning them just doesn't work.

I had the similar problems in my 98xj and 04Grand. Found broken/cracked wires between driver door crease. I spliced them back together and there wasn't too much slack in the wires. I used a male/female pin connection to give me a bit more length.

Well funny enough ... I sprayed the panel with PCB cleaner through the buttons gaps without removing anything.
And all the windows work including the lock switch! lol lol
Now need to find out a how to for IAC
Found this one but where all the pictures go https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f30/ho...le-body-76947/

OK I have taken the IAC off ... cleaned it with throttle body cleaner and put it back in again.
The problem was still there
So today I took it off again and I said I have nothing to loose ... lol
Look at the attached picture to make some sense of my poor description
The IAC has a silver piston like thing ... once taken out you will also see it is threaded on the other end of it, you can pull it off the IAC becareful the spring which is in the black tube not to pop out.
The best way to describe it (There is a Silver conical shape, then a cylindrical black tube that can be moved up and down the rod, the black tube inside has a spring)
So once it is taken apart you will have the conical shape
I then spayed in the hole with PCB/Flux cleaner. Let it dry a bit.
Then sprayed on the other end of the piston like rod which is threaded with Fine Spray White Grease and also sprayed in the the hole the thread goes in ...
Assembled and pushed it in and out a couple of times.
I have installed it back to the car ...
and Hurray it seems it is working!!! lol no more unstable RPM's and feeling that it will stall in idle etc.
Time will tell I guess
Sorry for the poor description guys hard to find all the terms lol

The passenger power windows get ground from the driver's door and these wires run underneath the carpet. Mine were cut from all the rubbing they had.
Also ALL the wires coming from driver's door to the body were broken in my Jeep. After that all my windows work from all the swatches.
Mine is 94, yours might be different.
