Hey, forum. I really, REALLY like cherokees and I think I may try and get one. A 4.0L 6cyl five speed 4 door, to be exact. I just have a few questions though.

I am not sure if I would want four wheel drive. How much of a difference in fuel efficiency does 4wd make? I don't really need it for any reason at all, but if it isn't too much of a difference, I will definitely opt for it.

Also, what sort of gas mileage do you get in yours?

Do you know how much power/torque the 4.0L makes stock?

you won't be sorry man. Biggest thing is to look for one was was well maintained.

You definitely want to get one that's 4x4. Not only will it be easier to find, but you WILL end up wanting/needing to use it eventually.

I get 17.5mpg average with my 5 speed.

Stock 4.0 (when it was new) made 190HP/235ft-lb. Plenty of power for such a light vehicle.

 

I can't imagine any reason to own a 2WD Cherokee.

 

Gas mileage isnt much better than what I get now (usually 16 in a 97 sierrav6 auto), but I would be more willing to get that figure if I had one of these cars.
And wow, I am really impressed by how much power they had stock. My car has a 4.3L with 165hp 200ft/lbs torque.

Power, gas mileage, body style, performance, cool factor look like they would all improve with a cherokee! I need to find myself some more money haha

Anyway, I will be doing a bit more research, and then post pics of my future jeep if/when i get it.

 

That's because it's a straight 6 not a v6.
