well as long as dirt doesnt get in the gas tank, i guess your ok? could be dangerous if gas fumes are coming out of it. i dont know because i cant personally look at it. good luck and hope you eventually get it sorted out.

Hey all, FWIW:

My 94 4.0 has the same issue as ars0n is describing. On my rig the hose in question had dry rotted to oblivion and in replacing it I discovered the same conundrum. The hose was originally shoved over the fat inlet on the charcoal canister (which is stopped off by a smooth black plug which looks and feels factory) and all the rest of the inlets on the charcoal canister are occupied.

I chalk this one up as result of another Chrysler engineering lunch time crack smoking session and not a PO hack job.

Yeah yeah... I know it’s an old thread. Just checking in to keep from going insane. Exact same issue on my recent purchased 1995 4.0 Cherokee Sport. Same disconnected apparent vacuum line, same route to tank then splits. Factory charcoal canister with factory plug where you would think the vacuum hose should fit. 🙄 conundrum. “Got to know when to hold and know when to fold”

I know this thread is old but I have a 94 jeep Cherokee, 4.0 it's the exact same way, it runs the same but isnt going into anything under the hood, the previous owner put a bolt in it to plug it off, it seems to do just fine that way so I haven't tried unplugging the tube, I was just trying to find out if it was supposed to go somewhere. Glad to know mine isnt the only one. 😅

Default New here but i have a 96 with Evap to gas tank line

runs from the Evap canister down the driver side behind the fuel filter to the top of the gas tank. The biggest portion being metal and I was curious what the name of this line is call because mine is so rotted out that I can crumble it with my finger tips bought my jeep last year and I’m slowly replacing everything that looks necessary just finished the front end suspension front and rear breaks, shocks.now I’m doing brake/fuel filter and lines then rear suspension.

If it is a rubber hose, replace it with rubber hose.
