I used Putco had zero issue. Anyway you go will make a substantial improvement. Even with stock headlights. I went one more step and got Silver Star Ultras and got even more
brightness.

You're right. The steering column, heater controls, wiper controls and headlamp switch in the '87 Cherokee are the same as what is in a GM vehicle of a similar era but were most likely made by a GM supplier. Good point.

Since a lot of threads never seem to include a final solution before they fade away, I thought I would just post the video of how I got the connector to work with the switch on the Renix. Maybe it will help someone out in the future.
