So it's the wires in the door panel itself? hmmm, that doesn't sound like fun to fix, do I have to run new wires?

haha. this prob is more annoying than anything, i think... mine will periodically cut out all 4 speakers, but leave my subs running strong... opening the the drivers door will sometimes fix it, but other times i have to gently slam the door, and bam, 100% again... there is a wiring harness down by my feet kinda close to the hood latch (99xj sport) that is probably the culprit. when i first got the jeep, it had stock head unit and the front two speakers didnt work, droped in my aftermarket unit, and all 4 work great. the previous owner had a battery lead to the rear along with rca's and a remote wire, but they were all run together... so im guessing that they knew enough to do it, but not enough to know about running the wires separatley as to prevent feedback... which makes me wonder if they wernt screwing with harnesses. but its probably just weak wires... stereos can be fun to work with, but the more you know, generally the more fun it is.
