Trying to figure out which length speedometer gear I need in my '91 with a 4.0L, AW4, and a NP242.(long shaft or short shaft) Ive done some research and Im reading that the longer shafts are required with a cable driven speedo and short shafts for electronic speedo's. The sites Ive looked at say my '91 needs a long shaft.(it says all Jeep models '92 and older need the long shaft) From what Ive read on here I thought all cherokees are electronic driven or at least the '91 and later models.

not sure whats up? My 1994 speed sensor from my 2wd aw4 bolted right into my 90 242 transfer case.

My son's Heep is a 91 with a 242, it's a long shaft.
