Default Speedometer Cable

I have a 87 Cherokee Laredo and am in need of a speedometer cable I found this one on Amazon that is out of stock

Amazon.com: ATP automotive Y-914 Speedometer Cable : Automotive Amazon.com: ATP automotive Y-914 Speedometer Cable : Automotive

I went to their site and found this for a Y-914 but the image looks different, the end that connects to the speedometer?

Search results for: 'y914' (atpautomotive.com)

I have not found any other options so far that have the correct end does anyone know where to get one that is not ATP?

My Truck is a Manual and has cruise control

Thank you

Mine is an '88 auto 2wd. On mine, there are 2 speedo cables. A short one (upper) that comes out the back of the speedo and goes into the CC speed sensor, and then a long one (lower) that runs from the CC speed sensor to the trans/TC.

https://www.moparpartsgiant.com/part...er_pinion.html

My parts guide also shows: "NOTES: (A) For 1987, two types of instrument clusters were used. On type one Clusters, the odometer numbers are rounded, the Speedometer face has (2) slotted head screws, and the trip odometer numbers are in one long window". This applies to the upper cable.

Here's an old thread showing the CC Sped Sensor.

So, you are saying this has something to do with my Cruise control, (That may explain why it does not work?) and that I only need to short one from the back of cluster to that?

Yes, that's the sensor that feeds speed info into the CC module. If that's the end you need, those can be real hard to find.

I've been searching for one for a long time but sadly, there have been frequent changes to the speedo and therefore the speedo cable. On mine, the end that slips over the speedo is like a quick disconnect. You can see from the pic how that is cracked and held on by tie straps. The nut you see attaches to the speed sensor. Notice mine doesn't look like any of the pics I see on eBay or other sites.

So go check out Cruiser54's site @ https://cruiser54.com/. Has lot's of info on Renix Jeeps (like ours).

Then go here: https://cruiser54.com/?page_id=365 and get the 1988 Service Manual. It will give detailed description and troubleshooting on the CC system.

If the bits and pieces are so hard to find then it is time to work on an upgrade for the CC and until then removing it so I have a working Speedo would be proper.

If you're willing to ditch the CC, you can try to locate the "long cable" (#1 in the diagram linked above).

If the outer sheathing bad or the inner cable?

As far as I know the cable is fine when I drove it home I could hear the cable moving around under the dash so to me it only needs the upper but I have no idea where to find one with the right end on it?

I am unable to drive the jeep the ignition is out and I am waiting on a lock plate tool from Amazon to replace the ignition.

So what exactly is wrong? Did the inner cable break on the upper? Hard to tell from your pic but it looks like there's no inner cable. The speedo end is too blurry.

Does your speedo work properly?

The Speedo does not work at all there some thing missing on the end of that cable that hooks it to the Speedometer and I believe there is a cable inside as I heard the cable moving around inside the dash when I drove the Jeep home 64KM after buying it and my first thought was it was not hooked up or came off and when I removed the cluster that is what I found so I am looking for a cable.

According to my research this is your cable without CC
