Default spray on/roll on lining the inside of my xj?

I was thinking about taking out all the the components on the floor of my xj, ripping out the carpet and lining the bottom with either a spray on or roll on lining. Has anyone ever done this? Is it possible? Is it a good idea?

It always seems like my carpet is ungodly muddy or covered with bark from campfire wood runs. I figure a lining would me much easier to clean, while giving it a more unique and rugged look.

Yep done it, and its great but the floor gets real hot.....like cook an egg hot. Without the carpet it is also very loud when driving.

If your floor boards have even the smallest amount of rust on them, I would POR15 them...

Same problem in an old Blazer that I had. the noise was so bad I decided not to do it to the Cherokee. I have thought about a professional spray on liner, they go on thicker and could have better sound damping.

I currently have no carpet in my Jeep (Haven't lined the floor yet) and the noise isn't so terrible. Then again with a 2.5" exhaust and UltraFlo muffler it was never exactly quiet in the first place. I have to agree with the heat issue though, the trans tunnel gets hot enough to burn the stray pinkie toe that occasionally comes in contact with it. As far as the floors, I have some black rubber floormats and they sheild the heat nicely, so 90% of the places my feet usually go is completely comfortable. Just watch out for that trans tunnel! Ouch!

im personally gonna spray mine but i think im gonna cut my carpet into 4 big pieces so that i can leave it in to drive everyday and can slip it out like a big floor mat when we go muddin. thats my 2 cents

I have done it before to another rig, that was over 10 years ago and its still going strong even in the high wear areas. One thing no one has mentioned which is funny is to use outdoor carpet. That way you can simply wash it with a hose. Use your old carpet as templates.

OR, line the tub with that goop, put the carpet back in and get some of those Husky Liners. I have a set of those throughout the Jeep and not a speck of mud, water, snow, or rocks gets to the carpets. When they get dirty just dump them out,

The floors get HOT and in the summer it almost too hot. Nice in the winter months though. I used hurculiner on mine. However if you wear wook boots 24-7 like I do. By a set of floor matts for the front. I have to redo the drivers floor every year below the pedals.

I bedlined mine too. I used a undercoating gun and it was so easy. I will say that my floor gets crazy hot. I also have rubber mats inside, but I'm considering putting carpet back in. Too damn hot for me.

cant you just spray or roll the junk on over the carpet? if you do it thick i think it would look the good, right? this was my plan so there wouldnt be heat or noise issues. has anyone done this?
