Spring pack ?
I put a 2" skyjacker lift (spacers front shackles rear) on my 87 Pioneer and the rear end was low and tires (30x9.50 BFG all terain A/Ts) were rubbing with load in the back. I put on a set of air shocks for a quick fix as soon as I noticed the rub. Since then I called Quadratrac and on there recomendation ordered new medium duty spring packs. Is this going to be enough? I was thinking the heavy duty but they said that would be to much unless I was toeing with over 200 lbs tough weight and I don't toe anything.

You prolly need some new spring packs, 21 years old I can imagine those springs are pretty flat. Remove the shackles and get some 3in packs from Rough Country.

I'd be 5" rear and 2" front then!!
So your saying just take the shackles off all together, I don't still have the stock ones. than the 3" wouldn't put me to high in the back with only 2" in the front???

you can do a bastard pack with s-10 leaves. it can yield you about 3" fairly cheap. as for the front, if you want it to level out, you could always do spacers (which dont do much IMO) or just get slightly longer coils. but only shackles in the rear for leafs that are that old are not going to to all that much. ditch them and replace your leafs.

I ordered new packs
I already ordered new spring packs. Guess I'll put them in and go from there when they show up. With any luck I can ditch the airshocks and be good to go with the ones they put on with the lift. If nothing else, I'll get good practice dropping the rear end for the next mod.
Thanks for the input!!!!

Well the bastard pack would be ok if you started with newer leafs. But just adding a S-10 main leaf or an AAL is a temp fix on old leafs and they will flatten out or break on ya.
Good Idea to go with new packs anything as old as that should have new Leaf Packs and 3 in the rear and 2 in the front wouldn't look too bad lol. But a spacer for the front is easy. or to get an extra inch get some ZJ springs they will get you 1-2 inches in the front. That with a spacer is a great BB.

Thanks Stryker
Yeah, I'll get the new packs in and see were I stand then go from there. At least I'll be working with good springs for shore!!!
I think the old xj spent some time on a farm before I picked it up. the back was full of straw and dog hair, a thick coat of dust and muck I had to scrub off but cleaned up pretty well with a brush and some elbo grease. I'm sure it was dragging it's tail for a wile under that kind of use.

update
I finally got my new spring packs installed today. Turned out great!!! Exactly what the doctor ordered. Brought the *** end back up where it needed to be. Took the air shocks off and put skyjacker shocks, that they installed with the lift last year, back on. Rides like new!!! You can see from my old pic's that it was riding a little low. I'll update my pic's as soon as I get a chance.
Also installed an aux fuse block on the drivers side kick panel and tied it in to one of the ACC plugs. Run the Elec fan bypass to the fuse block and installed a swich in the cab. now I have a place to wire in extra lighting and stuff.

From your "old" (before) pics, the rear doesn't look too bad, considering the age. But thats mostlikely UNloaded stance.
Can't wait to see the new (after) pics.
BTW: Nice lookin 87
