Default Stained Interior Plastics

So i had my jeep torn apart for a month for some necessary repairs and while i had the dash apart i got the corona that knocked me out for a bit, But i am back now and went to finish the job and cleaning the dash parts i noticed they are stained which they werent like this before. this was all after cleaning with soapy water and the driver side being the worst no matter what i do with scrubbing or even temporarily trying armorall the staining comes right through. Has anyone experienced this and how did you fix it? I am clueless on how to even approach this lol.

Glad you made it through the virus....Looking at the pics it's tough to tell if it's stained or sun bleached and getting chalky... You could step up to a stronger cleaner like purple power but be very careful don't get it on any white script like the master switch lettering or door panel lettering it will take some off..Armour All is good but it will give mildew a place to grow if the vehicle is closed up for extended periods of time...If the plastic is degraded and starting to chalk up then you'll need some boneyard pieces for replacement as a last resort ..

This was all after washing the pieces with purple power then mean green and then soapy water to finish. these pieces are squeaky clean and slippery to the touch with no residue coming off as i used a drill brush on them. only part i did the armorall on was was the dash bezel and it didnt make a difference. all these pieces were under a blanket and jeep under a tree (weirdly no mold which was my main concern). i just cant fathom what the hell happened. these pieces were NOT like this when i took it apart. I mean granted i dont much care for how it looks but im about to sell it soon to move on with the next chapter of my life and want it to look spiffy for the next person cause i hate selling dirty cars. the center console was unfazed by it but mainly the end caps, bezel and steering wheel column cover took the brunt of whatever happened. Its just puzzling and if anything i guess i can paint/dye it but still. also this is NOT coming back apart lol as much as i loved remembering how this all went back together its like building a lego car that has no instructions.

Undiluted power purple and simple green can damage vinyl by ripping out the oils and dyes, and a powered brush probably didn't help. You might try one of the spray-on vinyl/leather restore sprays that helps put the oils back into the vinyl. Some of the products have dyes which can help restore the color too.

On plastic? And i diluted it. if it was a vinyl or leather and that i woulda used a different product. I didnt think plastic could discolor muchless this style. I assume its colored plastic and not dyed or painted. Plus it looked like this before i even cleaned it off and prior to that it was armoralled before i got sick and took it all apart. I actually may take a plastic restorer to it tomorrow and or heat gun and tinker around with it.

Some sun screen lotions do this to plastics. that is why I do not allow people in my car if they are wearing sun screen, chemicals in sun screen attack car interiors, destroy plastic sun glasses even. Perhaps a cat peed on it while stored? (foul odor will give that away) a plastic tarp draped on it may have damaged it to by leaving residues behind. I usually only use a gentle soap on these things, window cleaner. and a soft brush. harsh chemicals, and power washers never. suggest you try in a place out of view to test a sample of your cleaners to determine if they are indeed the cause.

good luck

actually the blanket did have some beach towels under it cause naturally any car that sits at this place becomes a designated storage unit it very well could have had suntan lotion on it and sunscreen and the mixture of hot humid days could of did this.

Looks like the cleaners took the oil and color from it. You can try some exterior plastic restorers but they don't last long since they just moisten them back up pretty much with oils. You may have to dye/paint them.

I've had some good results with Meguiar's ultimate black restorer. Application is relatively straightforward.
