Be sure to have a few rachet extensions on hand. When taking the wires off of the sylenoid, it's hard to get your hand in there whereas you can pop on about 8 inches of extensions and position the ratchet a little better.
BTW, if you're changing the starter, it doesn't hurt to change the terminal heads on your battery. Strip the wire back about 2 inches and I'll pretty much guarentee you'll have a corrosion (salt) build-up on the wires. Clean em with a wire brush, put on some new terminals and the juice going to your new starter will be much more regular. I changed my starter, which was not doind too well, and found out my wires were contributing to the instability of the system.
Good-luck, have fun.

Just for anyone who follows up with this later on:
Make sure you've got a good selection of sockets for this job. My Jeep is a '96. The starter has 5 bolts (counting the ones on the solenoid) and they're all different sizes. The top mounting bolt is like a 19/32? Maybe someone else can confirm that? Anyway, my switch is taking extra time cause I have to run out and get an extra socket.
