Starter Grinding Noise

Starter Grinding Noise
So I have replaced the clutch and flywheel in my jeep as well as other miscellaneous parts that have to do with the clutch. I now have an issue where my starter is making a loud grinding noise even with it running. I have checked connections and my ignition switch is not sticky. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I have already replaced the starter

if the starter is engaging whilst driving, STOP! Serious damage may result, your electircal system can be ruined.
Perhaps a sticky solenoid is the issue? remove and inspect.

Year and engine would help. The starter was unchanged through the years, except a minor change to the solenoid connector. You may need to shim the starter out if the pinion gear is hitting the flywheel. When you pulled the starter, did you inspect the teeth of the flywheel to see if it was torn up?
