Out of the NSS or CPS I would say it would be the NSS since you are getting nothing. If it was the CPS it would crank over but not fire.
Have you tried to start it in neutral or any gear other than park?

There should be info on here about cleaning them..I personally dont know how as I havent had to yet but I know I have seen postings about it on here a few times..Try to use the search feature or maybe another can post the thread with the info in it.

You can try holding the key turned to start, then jiggling the shifter in park and neutral. I hear the switch can get gummy.

Cleaning of the NSS can, but does not always, restore function.

http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoNSSrebuild.htm

At the end of the information in the above link is a section on how to bypass the NSS. I would recommend this ONLY for troubleshooting as the NSS is used for a few transmission functions as well as it's primary job.
