Are they difficult to install? I remember watching some redneck on a youtube video with like 5 extensions on a socket wrench....I hope there is a better way...that boy was crazy.

Well apparently that redneck was not far off I saw another video and it did involve 3 extensions. I think I have that many. I also have like several multiple knuckle adapters. I may just uninstall the old one while I wait for the new one..since I need to keep busy....I pulled the battery and put it on my tender since it was starting to drag after all the cranking.

Am I an annoying poster? I want to better post my problems and experiments. I do not want to waste anyone's time. All your advice is invaluable to me. And I take into consideration all responses even if I don't respond back. I am not one to give up easily.
I may get frustrated from time to time but I will just keep trying. And of course I like to mix in some humor from time to time, I hope some of you get my sarcasm. Anyway I really appreciate all your help and responses. If you think I can better handle my questions and testing let me know. I do not want to be "that guy" on the forum. Thanks again for your time and advice!

There are people here who can actually help you. They have the knowledge to correctly diagnose a problem and lead you to the fix. Provided you are willing to do the tests, and return in a timely manner with the results. If you can not perform the tests because you don't know how, or lack the appropriate tools, or just don't have the time, it would be better to just get that out up front. I've helped on a few of your posts, and they tend to get very long (large number of posts/responses) but don't seem to really go anywhere - or end on some random conclusion that has no relation to the original problem. It gives the impression that you aren't serious about fixing the Jeep, which probably makes the more experienced folks here want to avoid the posts.

I really appreciate that response/ it means a lot to me. Many times it is just work that ruins most of my timeframes. And yes I lack certain test equipment and skills. All of which I am trying to remedy. Several times when I was going to fix my jeep I had to fix my daily driver and that shut down my Jeep work and got me all crazy. You are right in every aspect. Thanks again. I will try to be upfront about all my situations going forward. Like currently I have to wait for the crankshaft position sensor to come in. I am going to try and pick up test equipment tomorrow and Tuesday. I do care about my Jeep. I just want her back. If I have to suffer to get it done so be it. Thank you again for telling it like it is.
In a perfect world, every "my jeep won't run/start" type of post here would start with "I've already tested for spark, fuel pressure, air delivery, and injector pulse...and here are the results".

So I picked up some cool test equipment today. An in-line spark plug tester...lights up if you have spark. I also bought a seemingly slightly complicated logic voltage circuit tester with built in leds relating to Positive and ground(red and green). Tomorrow I will be picking up the fuel system gauge kit....which I can plug into the fuel rail and test pressure. I asked the guy at Autozone if he had something I can plug into the injectors that lights up to check the pulse and he turned pale as if he had no knowledge of anything. So I could not find one of those. Either way I happy I am starting to get the tools I need that will help me troubleshoot more accurately. It is raining today so not gonna test,,,but hopefully tomorrow I can test everything. Oh does anyone know where I can get a cheap test light for the injector pulses from like a Napa or autozone or advance...something local? And is there something I should call it specifically so I do not leave the salesman dumbfounded? Thanks in advance. Looking forward to tomorrow! Oh yeah, do you think I can use the spark plug tester on the ignition coil line or will that blow it up or something? It did not come with instructions and I don't want to destroy it.

As to changing out the CPS I found about 3' of extensions to reach over the trans ('99 5speed, 4wd) and the forward few 1/4" drive with the universal taped or shrink fitted to a 11mm. The tape/shrinkfit allows the universal to flex but not flop. Also jack the jeep with the suspension drooping to get a little more room to reach up. A skinny friend in better shape than me would be good!

great too! Really appreciate the advice. Thanks again!

Okay so using my newly acquired tools I have some results to finally post. I don't have spark. I used the tester on a spark plug first then the igntion coil. No spark. Since I bought the fuel pressure kit I decided to test that. I get about 35 at the rail just priming. Jumped to 39 when I tried to start it. No significant drop in pressure. I started using my logic probe to test initial grounds...all the main ones are good(I believe). Got a solid ground led on all the main connections...engine ground section behind dipstick, seconday grounds throughout the bay were all green. Only thing I did not do is use the probe to test the sensor grounds and voltage...mainly because I don't know how. Should I turn on the key and I am not sure which wires to probe....mainly focusing on the crankshaft position sensor and some secondary ones. Hope this helps with troubleshooting. Crankshaft position sensor wont be here til thurs so that sucks. But I will be working anyway. So I I can't do anything more except pull the original sensor and perform any other tests you all might recommend. Currently I have the IOD fuse out because it was causing the battery drain.

I was around at someones place, and a lady who was also present was admiring my Jeep, she loves wheeling & working on vehicles
mentioned to her that I was doing a lot of work on it, and she enthusiastically volunteered to help me work on it, she gets her hands dirty
with extreme sadness, I had to decline, as surely my Mrs would detonate on sight of her...

Are the electronics from the 1994 or the 1996? You'll need the wiring diagram for the correct electronics. There is a diagram for the starting system. You will work your way backwards from the coil to the battery.

1994 electronics. I removed the crankshaft ps today. So just waiting for the delivery and my chance to install. Prob a few days. Bleh. Interestingly enough it was my my first experience with wobble socket extensions. Never even knew about
them. But I got like a multi-pack at Harbor Freight. They did the job on the removal. 11mm by the way. Will be interesting on the install.
