starting problem and need help
So I started up my jeep a few days ago and it made a bad grinding noise, I figuered it was the starter so I changed it. The new starter fixed the problem until today, it started grinding again when I started it. I checked the bolts and connection involving the starter and everything is tight like it suppose, so my question is it the flywheel? My rig is a 96 jeep cherokee 4d sport 2wd if you could help me that would be great.

Take the starter back out and look at the teeth on the flywheel and starter if there chewed up yeah its the flywheel it could be cracked also and throwing it off to make it grind

So I took the starter back out and the flywheel has some small chips in it and I didn't see and cracks. The stater is still good no chips in the teeth, so I'm thinking that it is the flywheel is bad and the teeth aren't matching up just right. What do you think?

Sounds like you need a new flywheel if you can see chips and cracks. Sorry for your misfortune. If it was me i'd drop the transmission replace it and while your in there check your rear main seal and replace that too if its bad.
