Default Starting problems

So the past two days I tried starting my 96 xj and it tried turning over but just couldn't. walked out this morning and she shot up the first try. However it was pretty rough at IDLE while I was in park. Took it around the block and it was kind of hiccuping the whole time. And also while I was in idle i heard tiny reving sounds coming from the muffler but my rpm stayed the same. Any ideas?

Nope, All lights gauges work perfectly fine. And I too replaced the cap and rotor. Because the day it stopped running fine the weather here warmed up from 17 to 54 in a day and all the snow melted. Figured some moisture got underneath so I replaced it. Did nothing though. A few friends have told me to check either the CPS or the fuel pump? but I have no clue how to look at these things

So you think it could be the CPS? thats what my neighbor warned me about too. Was it running rough before that night? Mine was running just perfect, but when I started it up today it wasn't running so smoothly.

Sweet. Let me know what goes on with yours because I bet we have the same problem. Also how uch was your CPS? and do you plan on replacing it yourself? Or taking it to a garage?

well found out that my check engine light was burnt out so i replaced it and i had two codes one for the crank sensor and another for a o2 sensor. i cleared the codes with a scnner and drove about 15 miles with nothing coming back on so we will see what happens

I'll have to check the same. I'm almost positive my light works, but if not how did you did you check? and how did you get the codes?

i had to take my gauge cluster out and swap a bulb around to see if it was blown. and you need a code reader to get the codes. you can bring it to an autozone and they can check for free. but since my light was out i didnt see the codes. i cleared them and shes still starting and running fine
