I dd mine with a Spartan rear locker (2wd). It does make a ratcheting noise that can be annoying turning at slow speeds. You can feel it push in curves while accelerating so I'm not sure how it would do in snow. I'm sure I'll find out this winter.
I don't need mine quite honestly, but I wanted piece of mind if I ever needed to cross neutral grounds or get around stranded vehicles. Both scenarios are far fetched but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. I also plan on getting close to ponds (if I ever get to go fishing), so just another piece of mind.
Oh, and tbone helped me a ton with my upcountry clone lift.

I also went up-country clone. Dorman HD springs in the rear and 1" spacers in the front. I run 30" (30x9.5/r15) tires. It is a 80miles/day daily driver that is capable enough to handle any of my camping, fishing, kayaking.

Oh man, y'all are my people! Rock 'em stock 'em Upcountry style! Love these things.

I'm gonna hop on the bandwagon and share a photo of my not-a-clone Upcountry. Got LT235/75/R15 Khumos on her right now.

The rear leafs are starting to go flat - it looks like either Crown or Dorman HD leaves should bring it back to stock ride height?

I'm in the same boat with my springs. And from what I'm reading here lately the Dormans are causing folks to now lift the front an inch and a half over stock after they installed the Dormans on the rear. So I'm tossing around the idea of either oem replacment or an add a leaf for the rear instead.

Bet yours corners like it is on rails the way it sits now. I know mine does.

I think a happy medium can be found. We make a lot of long road trips and there is less "fight" to it when they are OEM or close. I also have a Bronco II that is lifted with the works and it is just not practical or comfortable to make long road trips with, especially on windy roads, strong cross winds or when pulling a trailer. The XJ stock has been a better more comfortable easier to handle rig for long trips because it's stock. Yet I have always been able to get anywhere I needed to go offroad without getting hung up if I pick a good line. And I've been through some pretty rough stuff with it.

Maybe. But mainly they give a rough ride. Long ones are better than the short ones if you decide to go that way.
