Default steady ticking and sounds like diesel

I have a steady tick and engine sounds like a diesel,has good oil pressure 50 psi,engine runs good and strong,pulled cover and checked torque converter bolts,tried to check flywheel with flashlight for cracks,noise sounds like it is coming all over engine.any help

Its pretty common. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it gets worse. Try changing your oil. Might help quiet it down a little.

It has 177,000,just changed running 10w40 and some stp oil treatment.

Thicker oil is not a good way to mask a problem. The problem is still there. Just because you can't hear it doesn't mean its gone. Not to mention thicker oil will take longer to lube up your top end during cold starts. Where most of your wear is occuring. Seafoam engine. Could just be real dirty. If that doesn't help then you have worn out parts.

I had a donor cherokee that sounded like a diesel, ended up being piston slap Thankfully it was only a donor! My cousin and I tried to blow it up and that engine wouldn't go. Had it for over a year and finally sold it after I took enough parts off of it

ah 4.0L sounding like a diesel means the motor is just starting to break in
