Steering for 8-9" of lift

to the OP just get someone or yourself to build yourself some new steering. i ended up goin that route after i bent some so called HD steering from Rugged ridge and teraflex, i also wheel hard.
4.3 the teraflex crap is not the greatest and xjoffroad is right it is meant for 6 to 6.5" call and ask i just did. anything really over 7 inches causes binding.

you going to some 37's and full widths? didnt know IRO made their own steering. well then there you go OP. IRO has a bolt on kit for you!

I never stated that i wanted bolt on. I asked what my options are. I really dont have any intention to lower the jeep, I would have to replace leafs and coils...

nope staying at 35s. i dont know why every jeep site has suddenly started going through an LCG is the only way to go phase haha. i like having flex and even though most say 35s on 7" of lift is tippy, i should be fine. ill be beefing up my axles a bit and maybe do a 44 swap when i do gears and lockers but i dont have a D35 so im good haha

i run 7.5 Inches of lift and i have V8 grand cherokee tie rods, a steering box brace with a 98 durango steering box. mine works great. a creak here and there but hell, its a jeep.

My little addition to the posts. as you can see i have a very good flex with must my short arm right now and 7.5" of lift. i also have no steering problems. when to the beach yesterday and dug some holes to take this pic...looks pretty good till the cops ruined my party...lol

That is def. more like 9-10" of lift. Mine was 7.5" and 35's and not that tall. Mine worked fine though, I ran steering off a mid 90's v8 grand cherokee, much stronger and I never had any issues. I say if you like it like it is, leave it. I believe it will work fine.

I have a Currie axle up front with CJ knuckles and I am running the tie rod on top of the knuckle with a spacer and a dropped pitman arm. My tie rod and drag link are made of heavy DOM with rod ends. I have wandering in the front end. The jeep originally had Rustys steering on it before i got it. That steering functioned just fine, but the previous owner removed that steering to put on his other jeep. I currently have the stock steering on it to move it around. So basically i am looking for a good upgrade.

All other discussions aside, with that much lift you need to do something to raise the axel end of the tie rod because the tie rod ends just don't have that much swing built into them. I suggested the Tereflex because it worked well for me. I called them and talked to both of the tech support guys there and they said that there was only a potential on some kits due to variability in kits and that the 2' drop pitman arm (included in my kit) solved that. There are some other options out there and I suppose it depends on how much you want to spend. I would give you a suggestion on this. When I bought mine, I did not pay full retail for that kit. I paid $502 shipped to my door including CA tax which is around 9%. So the reality is I got the kit for a base price of around $425. I did this by getting a price from Summit Racing which has low shipping rates, $8.00 and no sales tax from their out of state warehouse. Then I went to 4 Wheel Parts with my price and they beat it significantly and I had my kit. If you use that strategy when shopping, you will be able to get a high end kit for much less.
