Hello,

will a steering box from a 97 2.5l xj be the same box as on a 99/00 4.0l xj?

Best way to do this is to look up the part at a website somewhere.
Or go here and download the parts catalogs and look.

I was always kind of under the impression that almost all years would work.
But to try and be thorough I looked.
Now there is nothing about engines when looking in my parts catalogs.
Just LHD and RHD.
Looks like the part number for the '97 LHD is 52088386.
Looks like the part number for the '99 LHD is 52088386AD.
Looks like the part number for the '00 LHD is 52088386AC.
Now I always felt that the letters at the end of the part number was not a different part but more a year designation.
But....... LOL.
And I am noticing that '99 is AD and '00 is AC. Just thinking it would be the other way around. Alphabetical order and all.
So I am going with yes.
Hoping others who are smarter then me will chime in though. MLOL.
