Any updates on this thread? While installing my ironrock offroad spacer and frame plate today. My gearbox started leaking from the input..... since I gotta get a new one anyway I'm looking to upgrade for easier steering feel. But I don't wanna spend a ton of money or lose any turning radius. I've been reading for hours and get a lot of conflicting information. I did can oreileys today inquiring about the Durango box and xj box. They said they are the same part number lol just different companies so I have no idea what to belive

Not what I wanted to hear lol I have blown my budget pretty badly so far I believe I'll just stick with the XJ BoxAnd modify my pump to provide a little bit more pressure I'm only running 33s with the 5" lift. until it settles down to the 4.5 that I bought So that should work pretty well right

What's wrong with rebuilding your own? Do we assume that there is too much wear in the center so a good cleaning, resealing and adjustment won't fix any issues?

Back when I was with TRW we told technicians to not tighten the adjusting nut if the steering was loose because it would cause it to bind when turned. I'm not sure that is necessarily accurate though. We may have been trying to sell more racks.

Yup it has play and rather not fool with it by adjusting that screw. I've been a professional auto tech for 22 years now and learned my lesson a few times over trying to help people with cheaper options. Very few times has it worked in my favor or them for that matter. But yes I agree the reman stuff is not good anymore. Everyone does just enough to get a paycheck and that's pretty much it
