So i went out in the Camp Pendleton hills
Puddle jumpin and whatnot.

Got stuck, sunk it to the axles.
Was getting it to move back and forth a little bit and lost steering in the process.
We took out my airbox and all kinds of **** to find that there was the link from the steering gear with a big rubber thing that fit into a female type end. and from there was attatched to another rod and then to the wheel.

the rubber compression type fitting popped out
is there a way to prevent that further or is that for a safety type thing so that under stress it pops out to prevent damage?

 

replace steering knuckle and dounuts?

 

Sounds like the draglink end at the pitman arm. There should be nut & cotter pin to hold it in place, or it broke. New end less than $20.
