Default Stock height..how big on the tires?

So I looked into getting a lift but Idk if I really want one or not. I'm not going to drive it on the trail, it's a daily driver. I need to replace the wheels because let's face it, they suck. I want to put the biggest tires on the jeep without the use of a lift. My question is what is the biggest tires that will fit on a stock XJ without using wheel spacers, fender flares, cutting, etc.

I'm running LT235/75R15 General Grabber AT2's on stock steel rims w/stock suspension. Only time I've had rubbing is at a full turn in an off camber situation. So I rarely get rubbing. Some say you can do 30x9.50's. I don't think I'd get away with even though we're only talking a 1" increase in height and a bit of width.

I think it depends on how much rubbing, in a turn, u r willing to tolerate......about 29" tall no rub, above that, I believe the rubbing starts. Expect performance to drop, the taller the tire.

That's true. I just want a little higher is all without a lift.

I had a noticable performance drop going from 215's to 235's. Never checked actual difference in height between the two tires though.

Mathematically:

215/75/15 are 27.7" tall (215 X .75 X 2 / 25.4 + 15 = 27.7)

235/75/15 are 28.9" tall

.6" increase in ride height

Depends on if you want to trim the fendesr and your backspacing on the wheels. You can run 30" with adjustment to the steering stops and minor trimming, 31" with more trimming, long bumpstops and less BS, with even more trimming and bumpstopping , BS and some aftermarket LCAs you could probably do 32".

I have 30x9.5's on my 96, at stock height. I have no issues with daily driving it.

Something tells me this is possibly not in the OP's plans.

No, sir. No trimming or wheel spacers. I want to keep it as stock as possible. It seems so hard to try to and find a site that is sellng wheel/tire combos. Is there a particular site anyone uses? Not sure if this against the rules of the forums but if it is, my apologies.

Maybe if we take into consideration wear on the 215's (needed replaced) and that my 235's are 29.1"s would account for the power loss. It's definitely there.

We went with the 235/70/15 to gain a little width over stock and but stay virtually OE stock height.

Let's just say I wouldn't want to go any taller. LOL
