Stock height..how big on the tires?
#31
It's not just about the height though - a 255 tyre is nearly 50% wider than the rim that it's sitting on. That has to have an impact on ride and cornering, especially at any kind of speed.
As you guessed I'm in the UK and maybe there is a cultural difference at work here. European and Asian drivers tend to put more emphasis on handling and feedback from the wheels than Americans. Our roads aren't as wide and straight as yours.
Surely you lot had space hoppers over there in the seventies. Am I the only 40 something here?
The side wall height and type of tire affects this more so than the width. On my car I prefer a wider tire with a shorter sidewall aS there is less sidewall flex under cornering. On the Cherokee I want more sidewall so there is more cushion in the rocks.
If you want better handling characteristics get a smaller grippier tire. Swap the 14 year old pos suv suspension with something stiffer. Lower the center of gravity.
After googling space hopper apparently that is a UK term.
