Default Strange problem/ need help

This morning on the way to work the XJ starts skipping on acceleration.... kind of like a misfire/bucking etc.
I figured I needed a new cap/rotor/plugs etc...

I get out of work today and the power windows (all of them) don't work... the driver side finally went down but real slow...

so I'm driving home and it's kinda running OK.... BUT when I touch the power window control (up/down) it CUTS power to the engine.... kinda like no ignition.... or no fuel
Let go of the window control and it's back to running ok.

I got home and pulled the distrib. cap....... yeah, I could use a new one... I cleaned off the crud but it's still got a problem...
tune up aside, I think I have another problem here.....

I looked for a power window fuse... Don't see one... Only power locks.

next step is to pull the door panels and unplug the power windows...
????

I've been through the whole power window button panel replacement on both sides.... and everything has been working good until now... now I have NO power windows and if I touch the buttons... the truck cuts power...

I'm starting to think I have a Voodoo Hex

anyway..... ever hear of anything like this?? stray voltage from the cap?? cap is not cracked...

I am stumped.

I don't think it's a window issue

At the start of the thread I thought CPS.
But sounds more like a ground/short issue.

Or a battery running on RC; is your alt charging your battery?

With weird electrical things happening: first clean up all your grounds, check/load test your battery, check and clean connections.

yes, I have good voltage from Alt.

finding "all" the grounds is the hard part... LOL!

I'm gonna plug in my OBD2 and see if there are any codes...

check for codes is always a good thing!

Main grounds are 6. Plus a strap (yes that's a whole other discussion but let's not go there now haha).
Take them apart, clean them up and tighten back up.

Between battery neg terminal and inner fender wall
Near coil (2)
Near oil dipstick
Next to PCM (2)

Braided strap from rear of engine to firewall.

Don't forget your battery connections

I had an issue with my OBD2 scanner.... it was not cooperating with my new laptop.... finally sorted that out...

Here is the hidden code.... (no CEL)

I'm thinking it may indeed be the CPS ... ?

why the window button is effecting it? not sure....

Yeah, I'd like to find a Mopar CPS but they seem to be hard to find.

original # is 56027866AB (discontinued)

but one place said the it was "superceded" by 56027866AC .....

but when I check it, it says it does NOT fit my vehicle.....
maybe I'll just go down to autozone or someplace and see what the clueless kid behind the counter gives me....

Power window issue is interesting and my suggestion isn't tied in well.

I got a replacement CPS this morning from Advanced auto....

just removed the old one....

QUESTION:
should the pickup end be Magnetic??
old one is
new one , not

EDIT,

actually... it IS magnetic... but no where near the strength as the old (stock) sensor....

going back under the jeep..... later...

Well that makes sense.
Sometime ago I came a posting where a guy shot this of an aftermarket and OEM CPS.
I want to say he worked in the medical field and used a medical device to take this shot.

I busted my ***** swapping it due to the size of my paws...
anyway, it's coming back out for a refund...
just called the store, they will take it back...

what a waste of an afternoon...

replaced plugs/wires/cap/rotor

no change.

one thing I noticed today is
with car off....
when I push the window button, it also dims the interior light.

next step take off door panels unplug the power windows.... since I can't find a fuse for them.

Power locks have a fuse but NO power window fuse.

If I am missing something lemme know.

I can't find a fuse.
