You have a good old fashioned short and I bet I know where. "BUT when I touch the power window control (up/down) it CUTS power to the engine.... kinda like no ignition.... or no fuel".

On the 98 XJ the drivers door wiring loom rubber boot that goes from the car to the door is famous popping loose on the bottom side. This allows the wires, and there are a bunch of them, to chafe against a very sharp edge of the door where they go through.
I would bet your problem lies there.
Aside from that, you correctly observed the aftermarket crank sensor is nowhere near as strong magnet as the OE. It's a well known fact on this and other threads you cannot substitute any thing but genuine MOPAR parts for critical sensors, this is why, in short they suck excuse the Francois.

I checked the door boot early on... and it was fine. good call though...
turns out the aftermarket sensor IS working..... and supposedly it has a lifetime warranty .... I kept all my receipts and boxes.
I also still have the stock MOPAR sensor.... that I changed for nothing....
OK,
yesterday I completely cleaned the tank (which wasn't bad at all) and installed my new NAPA (Delphi) "stock replacement" pump and sending unit.
also added the big WIX filter like the early models have (33486)
ran good, windows still were barely functioning... but not effecting the engine.....
also plugged in the transmission sensor and no effect either...
BUT, I did notice the reverse light on the driver side was dim while the right side was bright.
also the dome light (when door open) was dim.
since I checked and cleaned every know ground point up front at the engine......
I started under the back seat where the fuel pump wires enter the car thought the rubber grommet.
unwound nearly all the electrical tape I could get to.... and everything looked great.
But I had a hunch there MUST be another body to ground black wire somewhere back there...
The black/ground wire from the pump doubled back and was heading toward the rear of the vehicle.....
so I cut the pump ground wire, added a pigtail wire and grounded it to the body right under the back seat.
Like magic everything went back to normal. !!!!!!!!
windows work great/dome light is bright/reverse light is bright ...... Jeep runs excellent again....
I just need to button up the door panels today and I'm back in action.
So, to sum up...
I MAY HAVE replaced everything for nothing...
I did have low fuel pressure when tested but maybe it was low due to improper juice/ bad path back to battery ground... ?
Anyway, it's back running again and it was a learning experience.... and I now have some spare parts..
I did discover I need to replace pretty much the whole exhaust system AGAIN.
New England winters sure kick azz.
I always say I'm going stainless... then cheap out when ordering...
Anyway thanks for all the suggestions. Hopefully this will help someone else someday.
PS, a couple extra ground wires here and there is never a bad thing...
There could be a splice going bad in the harness where the windows ,fuel pump and dome light come together. Had an ‘89 YJ that had duct tape around splices in the wire harness. !

One good thing about my Jeep is, I bought it new...... so I know nobody elses fingers have been into it.
actually all the wiring looked good inside the looms/electrical/sticky friction tape.
On earlier models at least, there's a ground to the metal structure of the dash to the left of the steering column, which subsequently grounds though the mounting bolts of the dash. It is advised to "parallel" those mounting bolts with a wire from the dash structure over to the body, cleaning off a bare spot while doing so to get a better connection.

I'd BET thats where the fuel pump ground wire was headed.... (G302)
I haven't had that spare tire off in 20 years.......
