Strange problem, No Drive, all other gears work fine

So you signed up on a Jeep Cherokee forum? For the original, long dead thread, the answer was most likely a lack of power to the transmission computer which results in the transmission trying to start in 4th gear. Could also be a bad solenoid. Check the fuses and wiring.
