Default Strange things happening!!!

So I have these two strange wires that someone cut before I bought the Jeep, they come out of the wire loom at the back of the valve cover right above the temp sensor, the temp gauge works and it's hooked up but when the Jeep is at operating temp and I turn on the headlights the temp gauge jumps all te way around and bottoms out.
