Exclamation Stripped threads transmission cooler fitting

I noticed a fairly bad leak on my recently purchased 2000 XJ. and found it was coming from the outlet line fitting on the transmission. I started to loosen it with a wrench and found it start to come off fairly easy but when I had it off I noticed that the threads for the transmission side were practically gone. I have the new part which is a doorman 800-714 but I won't stay in the tranny. Just spins and spins if you try and screw it back on. So I guess I'm at a bit of a loss for what I should do to fix it. I first thought about trying to re-tap the hole but that would just throw metal shavings inside. Any ideas or workarounds? (attached below is the diagram for the fittings that I'm talking about)

The only thing I think to fix this is with a heil-coil kit or something like it or you can drill it and tap it to pipe thread and install a hose fitting and use a small piece of hose to hook up the cooler line .

I wouldn't do pipe thread. The tapered threads would likely crack the aluminum bosses first time you tried to tighten it. There's a few threads about using a metric 14mm-1.5 thread to 1/4" barb adapter and a short piece of hose connect to the pipe coming from up front. I'd probably clean the threads as best you can, and JB weld that sucker in place instead of trying to drill and retap.

Thread on going all aeroquip AN fittings.

Yes sir. Good to 10,000 psi on a 1/2" fitting. I guess if it's completely stripped out it would be of no use but 545 is like magic fairy dust for preventing hydraulic leaks... 542 is the medium strength version.
