Mine sounds similar to this and I know for sure that one of my lifters is collapsed. I will be changing out my lifters and pushrods hopefully this weekend. The noise could also be something else but I will do my lifters this weekend to see if my noise goes away or if it is something else. I bought my engine from a guy and checked all the play and everything seemed good. After I torqued the head down and started installing my pushrods I noticed that one of my lifters had no spring left to it. Because I had already torqued my bolts and would have to replace the head gasket again I went ahead and reassembled the rest hoping the lifter would potentially pump back up but it did not. So again with mine being a donor motor that I didn't have time to rebuild, because I needed the cherokee driveable cause my DD got hit by a deer, it could also be something else but I do know for sure its also a collapsed lifter. Yours may be also cause it sound pretty similar to mine.

My bad, there was no aluminum in the pan.

I'll look into it, thanks garran99.

I would like to give everyone an update, but the mechanic has not yet looked at my Jeep. I am going to call him tomorrow and see how it's going.

He has not had a chance to get to it.

It's been a long while. Jeep is back on the road with another new motor. Been driving it for a week and couldn't be happier. Not sure what was wrong with the old engine as nobody was willing to spend the time to take it apart (I don't blame them).
