Hey guys my 99 has had this problem for awhile now. The issue is when i go to take off. The jeep starts fine and drives down my driveway fine, but when I get on the road and try to take off it wants to fall on its face, then I hear a pop and she runs great. It does it randomly, and the temperature of the jeep doesnt matter. It will do it cold or hot, but its just so random. Any ideas?

I won't be of any help on this topic, but I can say that I have the same issue. Generally the jeep drives great. Every now and again..it will LAG severely from a stop. I find that if I push the gas more I'll hear a loud POP and the jeep will accelerate normally. What I have been doing is when I feel the lag.. I'll let off the gas and come back on to it slowly. That has always gotten me by so far. I have NO clue what it is.. almost feel like something is binding up.. transfercase? Tranny?

Not easy to compare notes through a forum but my problem sounds similar and was solved by changing the upstream O2 sensor. BTW it never threw a code. There is a lot of info on the symptoms of a failing O2 sensor on the forum. Do a search and see if it sounds like your problem.

New symptom guys. Ive noticed that just about when the jeep goes from open to closed loop it looses alot of power? I work at a garage so I took the scan tool with me and watched the closed loop timer.
