Stumbles above Idle

Stumbles above Idle
Hello, fairly new XJ owner here. I have a '90 XJ Sport, manual, with about 190k on the odometer. Here is my issue. I was wheeling last weekend and got hung up on the transfer case cross member, a little tug later and went on my way. Not a bad stuck but stopped rather abruptly. Engine never died. After shooting the breeze with the boys for a couple minutes with my Heep idling I got back in and it won't run above idle. It idles smooth, but as soon as I give it any throttle it stumbles, pops and back fires. It is also running really rich. I had good power getting myself unstuck and even pulling away from the obstacle.
I changed the cap, rotor, plugs and wires hoping that was the issue. No Luck. Before I go throwing a bunch of money at sensors hoping to find the correct bad sensor any idea on where I should start and if there are ways to check each sensor prior to just throwing parts at it?
Sorry if this is a repetitive question. I could not find a thread that addresses a very similar issue.
Thanks in advance,
John
