Default Stumped... won't run.

Bought this thing, been sitting for years. Cleaned the tank, fuel lines etc, new filter, new injectors. Was running badly had a slight noise, checked for busted pistons (no) replaced rod bearings and timing chain. Last thing I did was the fuel injectors and when I started it, it ran the same, several cyl's not firing. So.. checked the timing, firing order correct but rotor was pointed the second position AFTER number one... so corrected that. At precise TDC on the compression stroke (verified actual TDC is at the 0 mark) rotor now points direct to #1 rotor post at TDC... now won't run at all. Checked for spark, yes, but plugs are wet and spark not firing in the gap... on the one I checked for fire at least. So I'm a a bit befuddled now. I will replace the plugs... but geeze it should at least TRY to start shouldn't it? I smell gas btw. Help please, thank you.

try the crank position sensor or the wire going to it. cps. mine were burnt in two. no spark.

Ok, but something happened when I "re-timed" it. It was apparently running at after tdc, that wouldn't make want to run (badly) more than correct timing would it? I'm talking just an hour between running badly and not running at all, and the only thing that happened in that hour was me moving the distributor position. I swear it looks right now though... where's that "head with brick wall" emoticon.

Actually that's not even true, about it being advanced, dizzy position doesn't even affect timing on this, only fuel timing. Still stumped. Will try plugs and check the cps.

Yeah there is something up with the fuel synch/distributor position, cuz when I time it according to the oil pump slot at 11 and the final rotor position pointing at 5 o'clock, it won't even fire. But when I retard the starting position of the rotor/dist it at least tries to start. Obviously it's not right... ya think. I think I need to test my crank sensor too which might be confusing the issue

I just did it again, after finding an actual service manual online and reading VERY carefully lol. Previously I had ignored the whole "pin" deal (bad bad bad) the manual showed WHICH pin so I did that, it's running much better now >>>> https://www.scribd.com/doc/27977693/...trical-Systems
