2000Jeeper

Hello all,
I've had a strange new problem arise with my 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 aw4, when doing 65 or so and I attempt to accelerate, the jeep will downshift and flutter, it almost feels like it doesn't know whether to be in 3rd or 4th and stutters between the two. Possible shift solenoid issue between 3/4? 165K or so on the transmission. Just looking for some guidance if someone has felt this before. Does not feel like it is slipping.

So also Google "adjust shift cable in xj jeep" to read up a bit.

Also need to clarify whether it's actually downshifting or just unlocking the torque converter.

How would I go about telling that?

Pay attention to what gear you're in by counting. Some people incorrectly think the t/c locking up is the last gear or overdrive.
