Suddenly No Spark Since Last Shut Off
I've been searching over the forum for a bit now, but haven't found anyone with my exact issue.
I went out and started up my 1993 XJ this morning to pull it into the driveway so that I could unload the back of it so I could go play later today. I got everything out of it and went to start it. It just kept turning over and over with no fire. I can hear the fuel pump when I cycle the ignition switch. I went out and checked for spark... No Bueno. No spark. It shut off fine when I parked it. Hmm.
There was a severely dirty connection between the coil and the distributor right at the end of the wire between the distributor and the coil on the coil side. The wires are fairly new, but that one connection was ugly (I just bought the Jeep two months ago. PO replaced plug wires/cap/rotor). I cleaned up the coil post and replaced the wire from the coil to the distributor. Still no go.
This is the first vehicle I have owned that uses a crank positioning sensor. How would I go about testing to see if this has gone bad? I've read they commonly go out. I don't want to go start replacing a bunch of stuff if I don't have to.
What other things might go out under the same kind of conditions and how do I test them?

Well I did some testing today.
I have power to the coil. And power to the CPS.
So that makes me think it is the coil or the CPS has gone bad. I read that you can't test the CPS directly. But is there a way to test the coil?
