suspension lift need help!!!!
hello there i just rec. picked up an 01 cherokee in mit condition off a friend in need of money for $1000. its amazing i already took it wheelin and it works amazing, but heres the problem. the jeep has a 2" spacer kit on it right now, and i just purchased the rough country 3" suspension lift with the add a leaf and came with 4 new shocks. is it ok to run the 3" suspension lift with the spacer kit ? and if so will i need to change anything? like brackets? pitman arms? steering stabilizer? track bar? transfer case drop?

put it this way..... a 3" lift for a DD is ok, not really anything to change... 4.5 and more and you need DP arm, drop t-case setup or sye, longer brake lines, longer lower control arms for the front (don't bother with drop brackets) possibly a longer reard-shaft...... your would need to either cut or adjust your e-brake cable... you would also need an adjustable track bar......

he must not wheel to often then cuz a 2" spacer and a 3" lift is obviosly over 4.5" and i don't care who you are or what you do but if you run a 4.5" lift with stock length break lines... they will crack and break ask anybody on here........ same goes for running a stock t-bar and stock lower control arms.. it just does not perform well

Im running that exact same set up on my jeep.
Take it from me this is what you NEED.
Longer rear brake line
Straiten the front brake lines
Maybe a T case drop (mine needed it)
axle shims (optional but a good idea im running 6 degree)
LCA's
adj. trackbar (the RC one is very nice)
that should do it you can always expand but thats the minimum

this is one way to fix the front brake lines "extend them" jsut unbolt the factory star bit... and move the braket toward the specified location
also for the rear just order a rear soft brake line... and then its a direct swap out.... make sure you blead your brakes after swapping it out
t-bar is a track bar... its what keeps the axle centered while articulating.... once you lift the front of your jeep (passed 4" should get a longer adjsutable track-bar) if you run the stock track-bar on a 4" lift or more your axle will not be centered under the front of your jeep and the steering will be unstable causing "death-wobble" ( a very bad shaking inccident that will occur when the proper or an efficient setup is not used for steering with your lift
you can find all these things on basically any offroad manufacture site Rough Country, Rusty's offroad. BDS..... everyone has their own preferences

I do however agree that a t-case drop may be needed. (I had vibes)
And what is wrong with drop brackets? I don't see any problem with them... what is it that is so bad about them?

If you don't mind me asking...How much did you pay for that add-a-leaf kit?

if you already bought the add a leaf its ok! they will start to sag in about 8-12 months. in a year you should replace them. tons of sites sell just the rear leaf packs and there about 100 dollars a pair. 3 inches is fine for a DD. you'll want the t-case drop. just do it while ur jeep is on jacks and you wont have to deal with it later!
